"A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow."

– William Shakespeare

(Chloe is the one with the bangs, Gianna has the curly hair and Emily is the one on the right.)

I started laughing right when I began to type this. I cannot think about my friends and not laugh. I know a lot of girls might say this but truly we are just the most profound, vulgar and odd group of people. If you have a minute please click on the link to this twitter account: @ClaXXXtonn (sorry chlo I am already exposing you). Maybe her twitter can give you some insight on the dysfunction inside of my friendships. Anyways, as you get older I think it is safe to say your circle starts to shrink. I still keep in touch with all of my close friends and when we all get together we have the best time together. However, I would say about three friendships of mine really stick. The names of those friends are Chloe, Emily and Gianna.

I met Chloe when I moved to a new state for high school. She was in my PE class my freshman year and she just looked so cute and approachable. I am not kidding when I say right when I saw her I had a feeling we would be friends. We have pretty much been best friends since we met in that class. She is the type of friend that EVERYONE confides in because she is so approachable, sweet and a very good listener. I cannot put my finger on exactly what it is that makes her so likable but it has something to do with her soul. She just has a very fun loving and inviting energy. I have never met anyone who does not fall in love with Chloe. She is the cutest person ever with the brightest blue eyes and a genuine love for everyone she knows. I pray that Chloe can one day see herself the way that the world sees her. Everyone but herself can see her beauty and I pray one day she will realize how important she is to this world. Chloe is so beyond loved.

Emily is someone who I got close with after high school. We were friends in high school but we always did our own thing. We became really good friends in college and she started to build friendships within my friend group so everyone grew closer to her within the last two years. She's a funny one because she has this persona where she acts like a stone cold killer and says she lacks a lot in the emotions department. We actually see right through that. She recently said to me, "It has gotten pretty bad I feel like I have lost all ability to be compassionate." Which was a few days before Chloe got in a major bind and Emily immediately took it upon herself to initiate helping Chloe. She thinks she lacks in all of these places but she really does not. Maybe she is not a very compassionate person toward the human race as a whole. (lol). However, when she cares for you I see the type of love she brings forth. She is very charismatic, compassionate, loving and kind. (she is insensitive yet very sensitive). Emily does this thing where every time I walk a few feet away from her or take a few steps in a certain direction she immediately follows and comes closer. I think Emily has a very select amount of people in her life that she feels safe and comfortable with. Her little puppy like pacing shows me that she trusts me and I am safe to her. Emily might have some struggles that she faces (like we all do) but when she does feel “safe” I really know that she is genuinely loving and cares very deeply for the people that do bring her comfort. I might have read too much into her little following mechanism but if I am right i am just really glad that she has let me in because I think that we found each other when we needed each other the most. She has taught me a lot.

The first time I saw my friend Gianna was at a high school football game. For whatever reason I also immediately knew we would be friends so, naturally I turned around and said, "Hey f*** you." This was pretty much a test to see if she would play along. She did. Needless to say we have been friends ever since I hit her with such kind words. She really is the "what you see is what you get type of girl." With that being said, Gianna is a girl who runs very strongly on emotions. This implements into the love and care she puts into our friendships. If Gianna is feeling a certain way she will not hesitate to express it. I admire her will to be open and the way she wears her heart on her sleeve. She is a very genuine person. Her whole being is very out in the open, which I love I think we need more people like that in the world. I will say that my favorite thing about her by far is her sense of humor. Yes, she says really funny things but the things that happen to her on a day to day basis are so extremely bizarre that you cannot help but laugh at everything that comes out of her mouth. The last text I got from her was, "I just ran out of class and puked in the bushes at school as the security guard that always compliments me on my legs watched me." This text is absolutely not even slightly out of the ordinary. Her life is so entertaining and she can make almost every life situation turn into something funny that makes us all laugh. I think Gianna has this bubble around her that literally attracts absolutely everybody and makes them feel at home and comfortable. Which kind of explains her very entertaining life. I swear to you she makes friends anywhere and everywhere because people just drift toward her and immediately just start spilling their whole entire life story into her lap. She definitely has a gift and a heart for others in which other people immediately sense when they meet her. We all need a friend with a selfless heart like Gianna.

Basically, these three girls are like my soulmates. The main thing that fuzes us together is that regardless of us being different people, our hearts are the same. What I mean by that is that we all generally have the same morals and implications as to what it means to truly be a good human being. (most of the time, we have our moments of shame). It is very hard to find people who are truly high quality and genuine humans in this world and I am glad I have found mine. Of course these friendships are not perfect and we have our fair share of bickering and frustrations with one another but we always see it through. More importantly, I would say all four of us have a strong moral compass and the ways in which we implement love are very similar. I have seen the ways Emily and Gianna love when they are in a relationship and it is absolutely self-less and admirable. Chloe has not seriously dated anyone yet (hell yeah) but I know that when she loves it is going to be so deep and kind. This type of selfless love is also implemented within our friendships. We drop anything for each other and are constantly in contact with one another. There is not a damn thing we could tell each other that would be shocking. We are so close that we fully disclose ourselves without guilt or fear of judgement. No matter the circumstance we listen, laugh, cry, nurture, and even feel each others pain. These girls have truly seen all of me. The good, the bad and the ugly. They have pulled me out of my deepest ruts and helped me stand on two feet. Ultimately, I cannot express the amount of gratitude that I have to instill in these girls. They have helped me become the woman that I am and always make me smile even on the worst days. Our hearts are the same. Friends are so important and I hope whoever is reading this can drop a silly fight with a friend, tell a friend you appreciate them or be encouraged to drop negative friends and find a circle of genuine people who love you. We really do love one another and would not be getting through life without each other.
