“Health is hearty, health is harmony, health is happiness.” Amit Kalantri, Wealth of Words

I think that it is a given that if your body is physically healthy it inflicts positive effectives within your mental health and well being. Simple things like getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, working out, eating decent food and all of that stuff can sometimes seem so far out of reach in our everyday lives. We often forget that our bodies need us and they need to be nourished just like our minds do. It wasn't until I was about fifteen that I really started to take better care of my body. I used to eat fast food all the time, never exercise and just overall I did not feel good. I decided that I needed to make some changes. The progression of my weight and health choices have flourished since I decided to adopt a healthier life style. First, I got a gym membership and dedicated myself to the gym a few days a week. Next, I changed my diet and started to cut out fast food. Two years later I got really into yoga and found a true love for the practice. Around the same time I started yoga I also cut out red meats and cows milk. Lastly, about six months ago I stopped eating gluten but only because I had to so that is not super relevant. (yes, I am that bitch lol). Anyways, slowly but surely as I started to physically see results it was almost like an addiction that I wanted to continue. Of course, seeing positive physical changes was great but also mentally I felt more stability. When I look my best and nourish my body in healthy ways it also contributes to my mental health. My young teen self hated bikinis, hated shorts and hated so many outfits that showed off all the parts of my body that I did not like. I cannot even express to you how great it feels as a young woman to actually feel comfortable in my body and genuinely enjoy my woman like shape. I work hard to be healthy and aside from the struggles I face internally, making sure my body is physically healthy and treated with care has helped me immensely and it is something I take great pride in. Being able to wear a bikini or a tight shirt with full confidence is a feeling that is truly so freeing and empowering. I encourage everyone to grasp the gauge on their physical health and watch the ways in which you flourish.
